Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors and many of her books appeal to YAs. For example, Nineteen Minutes, chronicles the life of a boy who has been bullied his entire life. He lashes out, takes a gun to school and kills/maims several of his peers (high school). Picoult is a master at presenting both points of view - as you read, you can actually empathize with the boy. Her My Sister’s Keeper is coming out as a movie this summer - great book for YAs. Her latest, Change of Heart is also excellent. Picoult’s novels were among the favorites at the high school where I worked.

I have recently discovered a book called Bitter Tastes, by Victoria Rosendahl. It’s about a young girl who moves to a new school, and desperately tries to fit in, but just can’t with this secret she’s holding.
Reminds me a bit of Nancy Drew.
